About Us

The Labor Studies Community (EÇT) was established in September 2014, emerging from discussions among academics, researchers, and union experts focused on creating more coordinated working opportunities centered on the working class. These discussions underscored the growing need for independent institutions producing data on the working class and labor movement while also encouraging the creation of a new initiative.

EÇT set out to begin its organizational efforts within a concrete production process, and throughout 2015, it collected data on worker and civil servant actions by scanning local and national print media as well as some internet sites, converting this information into numerical data for analysis.

This work was published as the "2015 Report on Working Class Actions," making it available to the labor movement. EÇT, a volunteer-driven organization, aims to build and institutionalize a platform where researchers, academics, and artists who wish to support the labor movement can collaborate to produce high-quality and impactful work. Its goal is to increase the visibility of the working class and worker struggles while enhancing the labor movement's capacity for data-driven policymaking.

Committed to maintaining an equal distance from various actors within the labor movement, EÇT upholds the principle of offering concrete support to the movement. EÇT is open to the participation of all who wish to support the labor movement.
